Show World's Largest Coach School Will Dissect T Formation By HAROLD V. RATLIFF ATHENS, Texas, Jan. 13 (AP) Clark Shaughnessy'g football foot-ball legerdemain that brought him Rose Bowl glory will go through a clinic for a complete diagnosis. Alter 300 to 500 coaches get through delving into the intricacies of the T formation, there will be no secrets because the research is to be done at the world's largest coaching school. The executive committee of the Texas High School Football Coaches association picked Shaugh-nessy Shaugh-nessy as one of the instructors for the annual school August 4-9. The T formation has intrigued the mentors men-tors and they voted by a heavy majority ma-jority to bring Shaughnessy here to demonstrate. Too, the rags to riches story of Stanford's miracle man was a major ma-jor selling point. Some of the Texas coaches are going to have to make similar comebacks to hold their Jobs and they figure Shaughnessy, Shaugh-nessy, who went from downtrodden down-trodden Chicago to the Rose bowl in one season, is Just the guy to tell them how. Jess Neely, who dug Itic-e out of the Southwest conference cellar to within breathing' distance of the championship in one year, will be coinstructor. The Texas coaches also want to find out about Frank Leahy and his Boston college team that climaxed cli-maxed an unbeaten season with the Sugar bowl title. Leahy will lecture lec-ture on line play. This Impressive lineup cost a wad of cash, but the association has more money than it knows what to do with. Shaughnessy and Neely also will coach the scjuads that play In the annual all-star game. There'll be some things for the Stanford coach to learn down here where the material is so good the college scouts pluck the stars off their own front doorsteps. Twenty thousand boys play football In this state each season. There are plenty to go around with a nice overflow for colleges In adjoining states. |
