Show Auto Toll Hits Third Place Automobile accidents rank third among causes of death In Salt Lake City, Dr. T. J. Howell, city health commissioner, reported Friday. "Automobile fatalities continue to claim more live than typhoid fever, measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria, diph-theria, whooping cough. Infantile paralysis, tuberculosis and Influ-I Influ-I enza combined," Dr. Howell aaid I In an annual report supplement The "formidable killers'' are the same as In previous years. Dr. Howells said, listing In this group heart disease, cancer, cerebral hemorrhage, nephritis, accidents, pneumonia and tuberculosis. The city had 22 traffic fatalities last year. Dr. Howells listed, from all causes, 1749 deaths, compared with 1800 in 1938. |
