Show Utah Escapee Held on Coast Earl Eno, 52, ons of four Utah state prison "trusties" who escaped from the state fairgrounds Sept 21, Wednesday wss being held by Stockton, Cel., police. Clarence Dent clerk at the prison, said hs had received the announcement from Stockton. It did not disclose the circumstances of Eno's arrest Eno was serving one to 10 years for grand larceny. The four were in a group of 39 honor prisoners who were to have witnessed the hot-rod races at the fairgrounds that night as a reward re-ward for the work they performed there. Warden Mason W. Hill said at ths Urns. Two of the escapees, Nick Ernest Er-nest 24, and Richard Lamont 27, were captured within a few hours ss they sttempted to hitchhike to Ogden. The third man, John Rex Barnett 26, was returned to the Sugar House prison Sunday night from Los Angeles, where he was captured. Stockton police said Eno waa arrested after a group of "skid row" hotel tenants complained that he had stolen from them. The tenants seixed him and held him for police. |
