String-ham- , spent Thursday and Friday of last week with his parents while enroute from Oklahoma to Chicago. S 1C George Pollick arrived Wednesday from Oak Knoll hos-pital, Oakland, Calif., to spend a 34-da- y furlough with friends and relatives. Your Binghamites Report Pvt. James K. Cunliffe Jr., husband of Mrs. Naon Cunliffe is at present stationed at Aber-deen Proving Grounds. Md. Pfc Emil S. Pollick was dis-charged December 11 at Fort Douglas. He has been in service 49 months of which 39 were spent overseas. He holds the Am-erican defense service ribbon, Asiatic-Pacifi- c ribbon, Philip-pine liberation ribbon, good con-duct medal and victory medal. S 1 C Lynn Woolsey, son of Mrs. Mike Nepolis, left Guam December 7 and expects to ar-rive home shortly after Christ-mas- Cpl. Jack V. Householder, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Household-- . er, was recently transferred from Okinawa to Tokyo, Japan. He says that his mail is just catch-ing up with him. Jack writes that there is more work in a theatre headquarters than in an army headquarters. The build-ing in which he is stationed is called the Die Ichi building and is located directly across the Mott from the Imperial palace. Jack expects to return home some-time in January. Cpl. Mike Gerbich writes from Manila in the Philippines that he expects to be home the end of December or sometime in Jan-uary. Mike says to tell everyone hello for him. He sent several copies of a Thanksgiving menu in the Philippines to the Bing- - ham Bulletin. Howard W. Pingree, PhM 3c, husband of Mrs. L. Pingree, of Bingham, is on his way home from Pearl Harbor. Pingree is one of 500 high-poi- navy vet-erans whom the "Magic Carpet" is bringing back to the states the USS Nevada. General Wainwright asked me to thank you for your thought-fulnes- s in sending him this book which he prizes very highly-Your-very sincerely, Robert G. Hurt, Major, A.G.D. This is a fine tribute to the boys and girls of Bingham Can-yon who were in the armed ser-vices, and I know General Doo-littl- e will be delighted to have the book. VICTORY FLAG ' SOCIETY RECEIVES i MAW LETTERS Listed below are a few of the many letters received by Victory Flag Society from high ranking army and navy officials. Also the role that V.F.S. has played since September 1942: The purpose of the V F.S. is to correspond once a month with our boys and girls in service, to cheer them and keep up their morale. Since the society was or-ganized hundreds of letters have been received in appreciation of the splendid work done. In 1943 the society published a 40-pa- book, "Greetings to Our Armed Forces". In 1944 the society again published a book honoring the community boys and girls in the armed forces, "The Glory of Bingham". For this book the society received personal letters in form of cita-tions from Gen. H. H. Arnold, Lt. Gen. Mark W. Clark, Major Gen. Konyon Joyce and Herbert B. Maw. In 1945 the society published a 120-pag- e book, "Democracy Triumphs". Not only our local boys and girls sent letters of thanks but also the president of the U. S. and high ranking army and navy officers as received by Chicago Charlie, omitting head-ings and dates: Dear Mr. Zahos: I have received your book, "Democracy Triumphs", and wish to thank you and the Vic- - tory Flag Society for honoring me with a copy. Mr. and Mrs. James Brogan and family and Mr- and Mrs. Ro-land Mayne were Sunday din-ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Oliver of Riverton. Mr. and Mrs. George Evans spent Monday visiting in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Dell Nell visited Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nell and son of Midvale. Lark LDS Relief Society met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Byron G. Thomas. Mrs. Mel-b- a Meyerhoffer gave the lesson. The Primary class held their Christmas party Wednesday af-ternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ned Monroe and son of Midvale visited Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Glayde Alexander. . Mis. J. J. McLaughlin of Soda Springs, Calif., arrived Monday to spend the holidays with her pareents, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Ireland.
