If It is not In violation of th letter of the law aa it now stands written. It clearly contravene th spirit of the antigsmbllng statute. To bring it within the letter of tha law aa wU aa to carry put th Intent of tha legislature when It made hone racing illegal. Senator Nealen of Salt Lake haa offered a measure at thia aeaaion. Hearings hav been held before a enat committee and representative buainee man and other have made it clear that society desire to b protected against this form of gambling. A pur port, dog racing Is an abaurdlty. As gambling, whether it be through buying a transitory transi-tory Interest in a lean pup or otherwise, it la as undesirable as any other form which the law has aought to keep out of thia state.
