Show "MARGIN" DEALING "PURELY GAMBLING" I. H. Cook and James Blair, who yesterday yes-terday filed a reply to the suit brought against them by the H. B. Cole company com-pany in the District court, maintain that dealing in "margins" and "futures" "fu-tures" on the stock exchange, is purely a ficticious and gambling transaction, in violation of the law and contrary to public policy. The company in Its complaint alleges that $315.46 is due it from Cook and Blair for stocks bought and sold on "margins" and "futures" between October Octo-ber h 1901, and February L 1902. The defendants in their reply ask that the action against them be dismissed and that the costs of the suit be charged to IL B. Cole company. |
