Show SHALL WE HAVE TUB WATER ? ..It is becoming apparent that the winter season is progressing more rapidly than the enow is piling up in the mountains, and that there is strong possibility possi-bility of a deficit . This, will mean another water famine the - coming ' summer, unless relief is furnished fur-nished by increased waterworks facilities. Such a threatened crisis is enough to mate the average Bait Laker shake in his boots. The recommendation recommenda-tion of the Commercial club is a comprehensive and practical remedy, but its realization will take much ; time. TVe are strongly impressed with the necessity neces-sity of Immediate action in the matter, so as to hare a preventive before the trouble is again upon us. In this connection the scheme of the Commercial club's sub-committee on artesian wells forces itself upon our attention as offering a happy solution. That sub-committee's recommendation was indorsed in-dorsed and is a part of the general plan. It proposes pro-poses to utilize the wells in the city lot at the southeast south-east corner "of Liberty park. At an expenditure of less than 30,000 several million gallons a day of the purest water can be, put into the mains of the lower half of the city, and that, too, with very little loss of time. . We would,. urge the most serious attention at-tention to this project, without delay. Our city certainly cer-tainly ought not take chances with the' whims of the weather against providing ourselves with an added supply of water at the earliest practicable day, t--'- ' ' |
