Show SILAS SJUTfl IS GIVEN HIS LIBERTY gllaa Smith, whose preliminary hearing on a charge of murder in the first degree for the killing of Private Albert Hassett at Fort Douglas Christmas eve, was held Wednesday, was given his liberty by City Judge Dlehl Thursday morning. Judge Diehl held that the evidence as presented by the prosecution was not sufficient to show that a crime had been committed, and that nothing was adduced to show that Smith had not shot Hassett In self- d'sfmlth" was defended by Attorney James M Hamilton. After he had been discharged dis-charged Smith thanked his attorney and the court. |
