Show GEORGE LABEY IS FOUNDDEAD IN DED .- George Laney, who has' been for many months dependent upon .the city and the county, was found dead in his bed In a room In the Mission shelter in Plum alley Thursday morning. Death was evidently from natural causes, as Laney had been ill of rheu-' rheu-' matlsm for some time. Laney had served several terms In the city Jail on conviction of vagrancy, and had been an inmate of the county infirmary, but would not consent to remain re-main there. Coroner Frank H. Clark was notified, noti-fied, and after viewing the body ordered or-dered It removed to S. D. Evans' undertaking under-taking establishment. It will be determined deter-mined late Thursday afternoon whether wheth-er an inquest will be held. Laney's true name was William Robinson, Rob-inson, and It was learned Thursday afternoon af-ternoon that he has a widow living In Chicago. He was a cook, and until a few months ago was employed in a Main street cafe. He was a member of the local Cooks and Waiters' union. |
