Show COMPLAINTS : SWORN OUT Wonan Says That Young Men Tried to Rob Her if $220, ' ' r Complaints were sworn out last night by Mrs. Williams, who Uvea in, a rooming: room-ing: house at 72 "West Second South street, chargri"K Clyde S. Goshen, 27 years old. a window drenser, and Robert Rob-ert Hayes, formerly a floorwalker at the Lace House, with attempting to rob her ot a pocketbook containing two J100 bills and one $20 bill. They, were arrested by Detectives Raleigh and Shannon, who took Goshen into custody, and by Patrolman Carlson, who caught Hayes. Hayes was released last night on $250 bail, furnish by L. G. Ransohofl and M. K. Mulvey. Goah-en Goah-en was unable to.oecure J500 ball, which amount was fixed in his. case. Goshen and Hayes entered the rooming- house yesterday afternoon" and met Mrs. Williams, who was about to go to the bank to deposit the money. They asked her for a room and she laid her Jacket and . purse on a chair and went to call Mrs. Thomas, the landlady. When they returned to the room the men were lying On the bed and the money was gone from the purse. Mrs. Thomas locked the door and asked Hayes If he had the money. He denied having it. and Goshen did also, inviting 'her to search him. This Mrs. Thomas did and says that she found a $100 bill on the floor and the rest of it In Goshen's hat. Both men were intoxicated and when Mrs. Thomas ordered them out of ithe house Hayes is said to have been 'insolent. 'in-solent. Mrs. Thomas then caused their arrest. It is believed that Hayes had no felonious intent, as he took no part in the proceedings so far as Mrs. Thomas knew. ' i |
