' - CHICAGO, April L A strike of eighteen "iron workers in the Peasa k Co.' car shops at Hegewisch has resulted In an unexpected un-expected advance of the wages of more than 1500 men. The eighteen men quit work because they were not given an increase in-crease of 8 cents an hour over their wages of it cents. James H. Pease, president of the company, ordered a general advance 'of 1 per cent In the wages of the employees em-ployees of the company. Five hundred laborers employed by the Chicago and Jonet electric railroad have gone on strike for an Increase in wages from $1.50 to S2 a day.
