The Democratic State convention which met here yesterday completed lta permanent per-manent organization last night "Ex-Gov. "Ex-Gov. Osborne will be chairman of the convention and Will Held secretary. On assuming the chair Gov. Osborne made a vigorous speech on the exploiting methods of the Republican party, and Crltlcised-the President severely for his practical defiance of the Constitution Constitu-tion and the substitution of a despotic, will in the administration of National affairs. , Judge S. T. Corn also addressed the contention. He spoke of the necessity of a well-organUed minority party for f the good of the public service and the duty of Democrats to' organize and I prosecute a. vigorous campaign, no matter whether it was a winning or t losing fight. I Former Gov. E. Osborne is the ! unanimous choice of the convention for Governor, but haa not yet consented to be the nominee. S. T. Corn will be renominated for the Supreme bench, and T. B; Taliaferro la the leading candidate can-didate for Congress. ' ' The platform, unanimously adopted, declares that the National irrigation law was drawn up and offered by ' a Democratic Senator and was carried by Democratic votes against the strong opposition op-position of Republican leaders in Congress; Con-gress; condemns the partisan administration adminis-tration of the forestry laws, the extrav-i extrav-i agance of the State Administration; calls for an anti-shoddy law to protect pro-tect wool-growers, and for legislation to make arbitration compulsory ' in labor disputes. f |
