CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo., July 1-As the result of the findings of the Coroner's Jury . which investigated 'he death of Roscoe McOee and John Davie, who cams to their deaths during dur-ing the riots In Victor on the afternoon of June , President Charles H. Moyer and W. D. Haywood, secretary-treasurer of the Western Federation of Mlnen, together to-gether with some, thirty odd men, are charged with murder and inciting riot Judge Lewis -Cunningham, sitting lu the District court, has fixed' the bonds of Moyer and Haywood at $10,000 each. The bonds of the others wlll.be fixed at., a special session of the court 'later. The Jury found that on the day of the riot an armed body of men, about ninety, members of the Western Federation of Miners, assembled at Victor pursuant to pre-arranged piana from different parts of the county, and that they were appointed ap-pointed special policemen by Marshal O'Connell, but that in fact they were an unlawful aFsemblage or mob. Before the riot O'Connell was removed from office by the Mayor and his deputies, depu-ties, and were ordered by the Sheriff to disperse. Notwithstanding this order, about fifty ot them started a riot, when Alfred Miller, one of their number, attempted at-tempted to kill C. C. Hamlln.and during the shooting McCee and Davis were killed and others wounded. - Marshal O'Cor.nell Is charged with shooting J. J. Horner in tha back during the riot. Capiases for their arrest was placed In the hands of the Sheriff. Bond in the case of the members of the executive committee was placed at S500O. The cases will be heard at the September term of court |
