Show BIG DEAL BY PORTER Popular Hotel Han Will Now Make Seattle His ; Home. Regarding the purchase of the Washington, Wash-ington, Seattle's scenic hotel, by Don H. Porter, proprietor of the Kenyon hotel here, the Seattle Times of last Sunday devotes three columns of matter and a half page of Illustrations of the hotel, the purchaser and the seller, James A. Moore. . Mr. Porter signed a ten years lease on the property at an annual rental of $30,000 per year, and purchased the entire en-tire furnishings for $75,000. Since J. A. Moore decided to dispose of his interests in the hotel many have sought to secure it vbut he would not turn It over to any one who would not keep It up to Its former high standard. A correspondence began between Mr. Porter and Mr. Moore some time ago, and Mr. Portef then visited and Inspected In-spected the hotel. He then made diligent dili-gent Inquiry up and down the coast as to. the reputation of the house, after which he returned to Seattle and closed the contract The staff of the hotel will not be changed. - Sam S. Porter will, however, become th active manager of the Kenyon. Ken-yon. Mr. Don H. Porter will make Seattle his home. The location of the Washington is magnificent from a scenic standpoint The hotel site Is on an elevation, 200 feet above sea' level, one of the highest points - in Seattle, and occupies four and one-half acres of ground, laid off In the highest skill of the landscape artist. There are 200 well lighted rooms, 150 of which have baths'. Each room faces a magnificent view of sea, mountains, lakes or the city. The whole building is magnificently furnished. ' |
