An attempt was made to rob Miss Allison, Al-lison, an employee of the Z- C M. L millinery department, at the corner of Main and First North streets, by a young man late Saturday night.1 The police have in custody Raymond Wright and Arthur Rocco, 20 and 21 years old. suspected of the crime. They believe that Rocco, who Is of weak mind, is the, one who actually held up Miss Allison, but it Is believed that Wright instigated the plot and was In hiding near by, that he migl)t aid Rocco if his plans went awry.' Miss Allison, when the demand was made to throw up her hands, by ood fortune, had no purse or valuables with her. At that moment another woman came Into sight a little distance away, and theTiold-up was frightened away. She advised the other woman as to what had occurred and as they were talking two brothers named Johnson came up. - . They started on the trail of the robber rob-ber and presently caught sight of two young men whom they attempted to catchv succeeding In overhauling Rocco. Roc-co. Young Wright was found at his home yesterday morning by Patrolman Carlson, Carl-son, and was taken to the city Jail, where he made several conflicting statements. He admitted having been with Rocco and made other statements which strengthened the suspicion of the police that he had been using the weak-minded weak-minded lad as a stool pigeon. Miss Allison saw Rocco in the Jail yesterday and said she felt sure he was the one who held her up. . |
