Show CATTLEMEN SUED FOR $92,300 BY WELLS-FARGO Bank Claims Money Was Advanced for Purpose of Filling a Government Contract. Wells, Fargo & Co. have filed suit e gainst Henry G. Rand, Ora Haley and Benjamin F. Saunders for $92,300, alleged al-leged to be due them on a note. The suit was filed Saturday afternoon and is the outgrowth of a Government contract held by Rand for supplying cattle to the Blackfoot agency In Montana. Mon-tana. The complaint alleges that May 19, 1S04, Henry G. Rand was awarded a Government contract for supplying cat-tle cat-tle to the agency and that In order to fulfill his contract he took into partnership partner-ship Ora Haley and Benjamin F. Saunders, Saun-ders, who went his security on a note at the Well. Fargo & Co. bank of Salt Lake for $82,300. Plaintiffs charge that when the contract con-tract had been filled the Government paid Rand the amount of his contract, $98,790 In the form of a warrant, and assert that when they asked that he Indorse the warrant .over to them In order that they might be reimbursed for the loan to him he refused. Plaintiffs further allege that on November No-vember 7 Rand demanded that the bank pay him $10,000 before he Indorse the check to them. Plaintiffs ask that a receiver be appointed ap-pointed to take charge of the warrant ard that their claim of $92,300 be made a lien against It, together with Interest and court costs. |
