Show The Butte Miner quoted in The Telegram last evening says that "if . Mr. Smoot can be ejected from his seat because he believes in the sanctity of a practice prohibited by law," etc., etc. If the Miner has studied the complainants' case it knows that Mr.' Smoot's belief, per se, has nothing to do with his disqualifications. If a man belongs to the Mafia, believes in its principles, counsels with its leaders and by silent acquiescence fosters its deadly work, is such a man a safe man to sit in the United States Senate? Birds of a feather flock together. |
