Show MEDICAL SCHOOL IS PLANNED AS BRANCH OF STATE UNIVERSITY. " A plan to establish a State Medical school as a branch of the Utah University Univer-sity Is looked upon with favor by many rhyslcians of Salt Lake and it is probable prob-able that the question will be brought before the present session of the Legislature. Leg-islature. County Physician Mayo, who Is one of the leading spirits in the enterprise, is In communication with the Board of Regents of the University, which, it is said, will take-up the question at the next regular meeting. Dr. Ma ye says that such a school can be established in connection with the University at a nominal expense as the now unused upper rooms of the UnUersity buildings will answer for dissecting rooms and competent physicians phy-sicians who will give instructions can be secured in Salt Lake. He also urges the fact that many young men who are desirous of studying medicine are prevented pre-vented from doing so by a lack of means to attend Eastern colleges, a difficulty dif-ficulty that would be overcome by the establishment of a medical department in the State institution. |
