Three men were arrested by Patrol- man Da vies last night in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of' the Rio Grande Western station sta-tion after a spirited chase of nearly two blocks. - When taken to the station the prisoners gave their names as Charles Myer, W. E. Wells and C E. Woodward, Wood-ward, and said they were Easterners. . ; It is charged by the police that a young man who was waiting for a train was approached by the men, who invited in-vited him to engage tn a card game. After' considerable hesitation, , he accepted ac-cepted their .invitation, and was beginning be-ginning a ' game of . three-card j monte when Patrolman Davies . entered the room. - , ' : One of ' the men saw the - policeman, and, warning the others, all three ran out of a rear door. They were pursued by the patrolman and a bystander. The bystander captured one of the men and Davies chased the others . two .blocks before overtaking them. When searched at -the police station the three men had nearly $100 in their Joint possession. -: , ., - -,.-. The police . declare there have been several robberies reported from the neighborhood of the Rio Grande Western West-ern depot within the past week. ., They say that a . few . days - ago three men rushed into a Pullman car and warned the passenger, that their car had been detached and was set over on a siding. In the rush that followed an aged man lost a ticket to St. Louis. 'No charges -have been.: filed against the men, as the officers are working up a case against them. . |
