He had no Idea who sent it, or to whom it was sent. He declared' that the Eastern press had treated his candi-cacy candi-cacy unfairly. It has made it appear that the protest recently published represents rep-resents the united Gentile sentiment in . Utah, while, as a matter of fact, he has many sympathizers among the Gentiles. Gen-tiles. Howell in the Senate. Representative-elect Howell visited the Senate chamber yesterday in company com-pany with Representative Sutherland and was introduced to a number of Senators by Senator Kearns. The visit caused an unusual commotion, as the report was whispered about that the visitor was Senator-elect Smoot. The report spread' to the press gallery and there was a sudden filling up of press desks, which had been vacated during the long argument of Senator Morgan on canal matters. The public galleries also filled up as the report was circulated cir-culated that the apostle had arrived. The members of the press and Senate were soon put right, but visitors in. the galleries still think they saw the new Senator. |
