Show MORNING' SALES LARGE ON THE MINING EXCHANGE to make the Eagle's Nest a big paying mine. The group Ilea directly south of and ad-Joining ad-Joining the Dromedary Hump, and has for neighbors on the west and southwest the Falrrlew-Keystone and Falrvlew-Eagle, respectively. In the latter a great strike has recently been made, and It Is known to a certainty that the same vein traverses trav-erses the Eagle's Nest-Falrvlew ground. Cross fissures that have been showing up rich in the Dromedary Hump also reach Into the new company's ground, and the development work so far done has been of a nature to practically make It certain that great bodies of fine ore will be soon uncovered In the Eagle's Nest company's possessions. Mr. Peery left today for New York in the interests of the new company. DIVIDENDS DECLARED. The ordering of a dividend yesterday by the Carisa directors of J 6000 makes the total distribution to stockholders during the last three months $16,000. A further monthly dividend Is assured Indefinitely, according to the statement of Manager Harry Joseph. The company marketed 2000 tons during August. The directors of the Grand Central and Victoria Mining companies met at Provo yesterday and posted dividends. The Grand Central ordered eents a share, $15,000, and the Victoria 4 cents a share, $10,000. Both dividends will be paid on the 15th, books to close at noon on the 12th. Both properties were reported In excellent condition. The Beck Tunnel Consolidated directors also held their monthly meeting at Provo and posted the usual dividend of ZV cents a share, 125.000, payable on the 20th. books to close on the 15th. This property was also . reported favorably, promising good results from development work now being done. ! STOCKTON COMPANY SUCCEEDS. ! More success is reported from the workings of the New Stockton company, coming- forth yesterday when the announcement an-nouncement was made that the third bre body found at depth had been encountered. encoun-tered. The Katherlne vein was struck at the 1000-foot level. The ore is pure galena. This satisfactory condition at 1000-foot depth has convinced the management that it has a splendid property, and henceforth hence-forth the efforts will be concentrated on further development, and In the enlargement enlarge-ment of the milling facilities, and In the construction of a tram for carrying the ore to the same economically. The new milling plant will probably be erected on the railroad tracks at Buehl station, on the Salt Lake Route, where the company owns twenty-five acres adaptable for this purpose. Later the original mill may be abandoned, and all the milling done In the new one. The development operations will include in-clude driving for other veins, two of which are known to be strong, and when these are encountered the sources of yield will Include five exceedingly prolific pro-lific ore bodies, and which should make thla one of the most prolific producers in Utah. SMELTING COMPANY EARNINGS. A telegram from Boston this morning says: "Earnings of the United States Smelting company, much of the operations opera-tions of which are carried on In Salt Lake and Utah, are at the rate of $300,000 net monthly this year. This is at the rate of $3,250,000 per year, or 12 per cent for the common stock after paying 7 per cent on the preferred. No dividend, however, will be paid this year, although a small dividend on the common stock may be paid early In January next." Eight inches of rich ore are said to have been encountered In the workings of the Cedar Mountain company of Beaver county, on the 250-foot level. SINKING AT RAMSEY. William H. Child of Child. Cole Co. returned this morning from Nevada, whose numerous camps be visited during the last three weeks. Much time was spent at Ramsey, where, with A. H. Mayne and other Goldfleld operators, Child. Cole A Co. are Interested In the Ramsey-Comstock mine. Of this property he said: "We are sinking a double-compartment shaft, which ts now down sixty-three feet, and in the bottom of which the ore Is worth $60 to $80 per ton. We are now sure the whole dike will run an average of $20 per ton and six feet of it will yield $150 per ton. These values are disclosed already over 200 feet distance on the ledge and the pay area is forty-five feet wide. It has tbe making of a very big mine. A. blacksmith shop and other buildings build-ings are being erected, and when the shaft is down about 200 feet we will crosscut tbe ledge. Big strikes have been made on the Starlight and Bennett claims, and there Is a vast deal of work In progress all over the district. Sales were heavy on the Salt Lake Mining; Stock exchange this morning, the total having reached 55,800 shares and aggregated $37,584.75 in value, and constituted the largest volume of business busi-ness transacted at a single session for many months. The activity was principall- caused by the demand for New York and also - Little Chief, a promising Utah prospect pros-pect which has struck it." and a desire de-sire of holders to sell Nevadas.
