Show DEMOCRATS ARE IN CONVENTION In Colorado to Select Nominees Nomi-nees for State Offices and Supreme Court; Will Indorse In-dorse Gov. Adams. DENVER, Sept. 11. The Democratic State convention met in Coliseum hall today to nominate a full State ticket anil two Justices of the- Supreme court. When the convention opened there j seemed no doubt that former 5ov. Alva Adams, of Pueblo would be nominated for another term as Governor, although County Judge Ben B. Lindsey of Denver Den-ver was still mentioned. Judge Lindsey Lind-sey has always been a warm supporter of Adams and was not in any sense contesting con-testing with him for the honor. Lindsey Lind-sey 's friends were anxious that Adams should accept the indorsement of the convention for the position of United States Senator to succeed Thomas M. Patterson, whose term expires next March, and pass up the Governorship to Lindsey. Senator Patterson, whose fight ngaiost the local Democratic organization organiza-tion dominated' by Mayor Robert W. Speer has won him warm support from outside counties, insists that Adams' take the gubernatorial nomination in vindication of his claim that' he was elected Governor two years ago and was robbed of the office. Three contests have been filed, the most important being from Denver county. Senator Patterson heads a delegation del-egation which is contesting the seats of the delegation named by the regular organization or-ganization on the ground that this faction fac-tion docs not represent the true Democracy De-mocracy of Denver as they are bound hand aiid foot to the local public utility corporations. |
