Show SHEPARD'S DEFENSE INVOLVES OTHERS In the case of the United States against R. R. Shepard, charged with using the mails to dispoae of obscene literature, the Government today finished fin-ished its case and the defense began argument shortly after noon. An effort w ill be made by the defense to show that other parties than Shepard Shep-ard attempted to dispose of the objectionable ob-jectionable stuff, and it is up to the prosecution to prove its case. A number num-ber of books, among them. Boccacio's "Decameron," formerly a classic, but now considered unfit even to print, were brought in evidence by the Government, Gov-ernment, and were vile enough to bring the blush to a wooden Indian. It is doubtful if the case will go to the Jury todSy. |
