OLD TONOPAH COMPANY ' DECLARES A DXVTDZND. A quarterly . dividend , of , 25 cents per share or an aggregate smount of $250,COJ baa been posted by the old Tonopab company, com-pany, the distribution to occur October 21 and the books closing October 10.. This property has been the mainstay of the camp that Is now assuming such wonderful- proportions, and, though the mine Is keeping up its wonderful record of a rich production. Its securities, in common with all the stocks of the Nevada camps, shriveled up under the puncture process that has been administered by the plungers plung-ers on the coast market. The Tonopah is one of the gilt-edge producers pro-ducers of Nevada's nesr mining sections, I and instead of it decreasing Its distributions distribu-tions it is well known that the property is Increasing its earnings all the while and Is pilling up a reserve fund that will compare com-pare favorable with the amount of ore that has been blocked out in a great many properties .that are given a higher Quotation on some markets. : During the week on the mining ex-'change ex-'change av total of 440,143 shares were marketed, 'for which the purchaser paid the sum of 130,031.03, while during the 'closing tours this morning a total of 6400 shares was disposed,' for which the buyers checked out the sum of $2275.37. Trading was started off this morning with the marketing of 1500 shares of . Carisa. - the price advancing to 19c, while Lower Mammoth remained stationary sta-tionary around 35 cents as 300 shares were disposed of, and Star Consolidated was pushed up to 16 cents as the demand de-mand for 2000 shares was satisfied. Uncle. Sam Consolidated was held down to 30c, with the shifting of 200 shares, while Butler-Liberal participated partici-pated in the proceedings ta the extent of 200 shares', for which 7 cents was realised, re-alised, and New York was set back to '28 cents with the shuffling off of 1500 shares. ' On the open board, -besides the regular regu-lar traders, Columbus Consolidated continued Its- upward flight and. after the sale of 200 shares at $2.10, a higher figure was asked. Victoria located a purchaser for 300 shares at $1.85 and Yankee Consolidated, after a long silence, si-lence, turned over 200 shares at 34c. Ore shipments from the mines in the Tlntic district during the past week show about the average output, though the Increase In-crease in the number of cars forwarded by the Mammoth company shows something some-thing of the importance of the development develop-ment work that has been going on at this old bonanza since the property got back into the production class. J. M. Blair, brother of the late George E. Blair, has returned from the Earner-' a Ida Mining company near the Nevada-California Nevada-California line and has some fine samples of gold which he took from the property. Directors of the West Qulncy spent the day at the properties of the company in Park City district snd returning to the city they expressed themselves well pleased with the showing underground that Manager Turner and his force had made. E. W. Griffith is scheduled to return to Nevada this evening. He says that he has ample means provided for converting hia property In the Bullfrog district. Into a producer during the winter months. President E. L. White, returning from the properties of the Eagle Blue Bell at Tlntic. on which he has just made a $50,000 payment to the McChrystal Interests, Inter-ests, says that the character of re that is now being produced is similar to the Centennlal-Eureka mineral. William Wayne Rose of th city, accompanied ac-companied by his brother. H. J. Rose, a ranchman of- Wyoming, has gone down into the Bullfrog district, where they are , going to open up some properties In which they are Interested. M. J. Stewart, who is operating the Malta group In American Fork canyon, says, that he has recently encountered some ore In the property that shows assays as-says of 26 to 70 per cent lead and 60 to 338 ounces silver. Ore and bullion settlements yesterday amounted to and were divided as follows: Sliver, lead, copper and gold ores. $34,000; base bullion, $44,750; gold bars. $20,000. Samples of ore received by Secretary Gideon Snyder of the new ledge that was encountered In the bottom of the shaft of the Carrie Mark property In the Silver Islet district, assays 259 ounces silver, 64.5 per cent lead and $2.48 gold per ton. Latest reports from' the Star Consolidated Con-solidated indicate that the silver-lead ore body,' encountered on the 300-foot level, is Improving and that the vein has widened out to about five feet. The extent of the find Is not yet known, though Manager Turner Is of the opinion, opin-ion, that he will be able to forward ' ear of the stuff next week that will run between $20 and $30 per ton, and If the quality of the metal continues good, as the development is pushed ahead there will be other shipments to follow, which seems to eliminate the, possibility of an assessment . that the shareholders felt quite confident would p called for within a short time. j . , HOLDZN IN CHABGZ.
