Show SALT LAKE , IS JMAKED Heaviest Rainfall in Six Months Extends Oyer Valley. . Salt Lake valley received the heaviest heav-iest soaking yesterday that it has had In six months. Not since May 2 has so much rain fallen. During the present wet period nearly an Inch and a half of rain has fallen. Considerable damage has also been done and scores of workmen are laboring labor-ing with ditches this morning, removing remov-ing the sand. Street cars on the North bench were delayed for hours last night on account of the drifting sands. .The street car company could not get enough men to keep the sand and gravel off the tracks. At every curve in the Sixth and Third street car lines, cars jumped the track last night and the vehicles were hours in making their trips. ' In the lower part of the city where the waters collected, tons of gravel and sand were washed Into the ditches. It wll be several days before they are cleaned. A number of wells were completely com-pletely filled by the storm, and considerable consid-erable damage was done In some of the basements. Snow was reported last night at Eureka Eu-reka and a number of other high points in the State. The rain swept the entire valley, having made Its way across Nevada. |
