Show OLD-TIME SWEDISH MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL The "Old-Time Swedish Midsummer Festival," which was held at' Lagoon ' yesterday under the auspices of the Nor-den Nor-den Literary society, was a great success. suc-cess. Every Swede for miles around was at the famous resort. There were any number of the pretty little Swedlsii girls, and when a Swedish girl is pretty she is pretty to the superlative degree. There were games and music and dancing and refreshments and all that go to make up a happy day. la the evening there was a musical programme at which all the songs were In Swedish. This was followed fol-lowed by a two-act comedy which was most acceptably presented. in the many running races" which took placo in the early afternoon the following follow-ing were the winners in the various events: (lirls under 8, Eva Jorgenson; girls between v8 and it), Viola Landeen; girls between 10 and 15, Edith Mayce; young ladies between 15 and 25. Nellie Jenson; ladies between 25 and 40, Hulda Olson; ladles between 40 and CO, Mrs. Katherlne Jorgenson; boys between To and 25, Charles Nielson; men between 25 and 40, Edward Gaymon; men between 40 and 60, August IJndholm; men over t0, Edwin Headman; ladies over 60, Charlotte Jan-snn; Jan-snn; boys under 8, LawTenoe Mortenson; boys between 8 ami H. Oscar Carlson, and boys between 10 and 15, Ujalniar Headberg. The men's boat race was won by Gus Baekman, with A. Carlson second. sec-ond. The ladles' boat race went to Mrs. I.indberg, with Mrs. Sigrid Norell second. The winner of each eent was awarded a handsome prize. |
