Councilman Hobday said: " . Mr. Chairman, I move that we now take up the matter of the petition of the Ltan light and Railway company for an extension exten-sion of Its franchise for fifty years. This was after Councilman Fernstrom, chairman, had announced that all Bitter! Bit-ter! before the committee had been disposed dis-posed of. th( announcement was made by the chairman, and while Councilman Coun-cilman Hobday's motion waa being presented, pre-sented, several members of the committee commit-tee made a break for the door and left the Council chamber. There were but three of the members of the committee left after the others had made their break for liberty. These members mem-bers were Hobday. Wells and Fernstrom. Hobday Insisted that the public demanded demand-ed that the Council committee dispose of the. franchise request. . The chairman of the committee Instated that there was no desire on the part , of the publlo that action be taken In to hasty a manner.- The publlo was willing that the commltees take plenty of time tor thorough investigation. Seeing that his efforts to secure action In the matter were futile. Councilman Hobday served notice on the committee that he would move at the next Council meeting. Monday night, that the matter be taken out of the hands of tha) committee commit-tee and be disposed of. |
