Show EVENTFUL WEEK FOR KOREA AND NORWAY. The past week bas been an eventful one for two of the "mailer nations of the world. Korea has passed under Japanese protection and control, and Norway has assumed her ancient rank among the independent kingdoms. The Korean Emperor remains the head of the hermit empire, but the real authority will be exercised by a Japanese administrator. Of course, the change is galling to the pride of the Koreans, an4 it was , not effected without a rigorous protest on their part, but it was inevitable in-evitable and they were forced to submit. It was an end that has been foreseen ever since the close of the war with Russia. Had Russia won in that war, Korea would have become a Russian province. Japan having won, it becomes a Japanese protectorate. The change will be a beneficial one for Japan, and ultimately an agreeable one for Korea, so far as her relations with the rest of the world are con-corned.-as her treaty stipulations will have the backing of Japan and will be more appreciated by foreigners. .'There will be no closed door under Japanese administration.
