Show TOWN LOSES FIFTH OF ITS POPULATION ST. JOHNS, N. F., Dec. 1. There is alarm among the authorities of St. Pierre, Miquelon, at the extent to which emigration from the colony has grown, over 1000 persons of a total population of 6500 . having left there within the past three months. No one will predict what the future of the colony is destined des-tined to be. The poorer classes are talking of petitioning pe-titioning the Paris Government to per-mlt per-mlt the annexation of the Island to Newfoundland, for it is pointed out that so long as Newfoundland maintains main-tains the bait act, St. Pierre's Industry cannot thrive. , |
