Show IS PLEASED WITH WEST New York Attorney Talks Entertainingly of Western West-ern Greatness. Henry W. Unger, a prominent attorney attor-ney of New York City and during the Incumbency of Delancey Nicoll as District Dis-trict Attorney of that city an assistant district . attorney, passed through the city yesterday with his wife and a party of friends. They have been on an extended Western trip, among other oth-er things taking in the Yellowstone park and the Portland fair.- "This entire Western, country is a revelation to me. To a tenderfoot like myself the chances of making a living would' seem slim enough till shown by the pioneer. Your valley from which Salt Lake derives Its support is truly an oasis in desert land. It is certainly cer-tainly wonderful how your farmers have wrung a bountiful support from grim and forbidding nature and the moral taught should be - a lesson to those from more favored sections of the country. "What was the most wonderful thing I have seen since coming to this great land of - greater distances? Really, I believe It ,is the scope on which the cultivation cul-tivation of wheat is carried on in the Dakotas. I could not believe my eyes when I first saw those great harvesters drawn through the fields by an aggregation aggre-gation of twenty to twenty-four horses, mowing down a swath of the golden ripe grain-as wide as a street, threshing, thresh-ing, winnowing,- measuring, sacking and sewing the sacks up ready for shipment to the grain elevators of Chicago Chi-cago and the Far East." |
