Show MILLER IS DISCIPLINED Legislator forced off Subcommittee Sub-committee That Took St. Louis Junket. As a result of his seal in unearthing, or trying to unearth, all, instead of part of the facts of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition commission. Representative George H. Miller, a member of the Investigating In-vestigating committee, was "disciplined" "disci-plined" Monday at a secret House caucus, cau-cus, and forced to resign from the subcommittee sub-committee that left for St. Louis Monday Mon-day night. Representatives who are friendly to Miller maintain that he was asked to resign from the sub-committee for fear that he would "be too searching in his methods in the World's fair city, and the other members of the committee did iot care for too much publicity. The alleged cause of Mr. Miller's resignation res-ignation from the sub-committee is that he gave an Interview to a morning newspaper, in which it is charged that he prejudged Director-General Whlta-ker. Whlta-ker. The Republican members of the House met in secret caucus Monday noon, and until after 2:30 o'clock discussed dis-cussed Just what should be done with the gentleman from Emery. All of the members were reticent concerning the action taken, but one man said afterward, "Miller was certainly cer-tainly scored to a fare-ye-well." Efforts have been made to have him resign from the committee, but Miller is determined that if he leaves the committee com-mittee he will be forced off, and will retain re-tain his seat during the investigation, and do his share toward probing affairs of the commission. |
