Chinaman lor or Japanese or Greek Greek In In fact tact all forI foreigners for for- eigners come under this ban As bad badas I as they are arc we manage to get a fairly I good verdict from them The worst Juror of all is the one who when he has heard all the evidence for and against the defense will wUl not give a a. verdict according to it We Ve had one that term The one I h ha e e in mind sat in the case case- of or a man map who was supposed to have used the funds of the office which employed him It was proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he lie put the money in his bank and kept no records record The juror would not give a reason for forI I hi nil hia verdict and arid It also Influenced I three others but I 1 believe theirs their's I could have havo been overcome Any way y lt Mt made a scratch verdict On that c case cake se I learned that a person stood to I his personal opinion was a fanatic bigoted narrow minded and all sorts of ot things In our term there was wag a a. a murder trial I was in the panel panel- for two and anda a half halt days and then I was excused and as I 1 was excused this other Juror was called If It he had been called before before be be- I fore I 1 was vas excused I 1 should have re refused re- re re-I re fused to sit with him unless unless' ho he was I sworn specially to give his hIs' verdict by the evidence He was excused before I he took his seat What ought to be done with a Juror who will not give his verdict according to the evidence He lie Hesh sh should uld be given givena a heavy fine tine and nd six months mon hs hard labor and forfeit his citi I r for a number of years He should walk up and down Main street for a week with a banner on his back I am an unfair juror a disgrace disgrace disgrace dis dis- grace to America While on the Jury I was able to judge on the question of Justice I 1 have h heard ard it s said Id there is no Justice in the courts I have always had an Idea that the intention of the law was above the letter of the law and I 1 find it is I so I have been in six of our courts since I was on the Jury and I 1 find the judges all very fair The judges are areso areso areso so fair that I could leave my case in their hands alone and have Justice done to me My experience being with the crIminal criminal criminal crim crIm- inal part I can only speak of that part I cannot speak too highly of the prose prose- cution It has brought out the facts squarely honestly and without unnecessary unnecessary unnecessary essary force or prejudice before the Judges x xA A few words about the attorneys for forthe forthe forthe the defense The courts allow them a alot alot alot lot of leeway but I find that if It they put their case squarely before the court without trying to Influence the Jury they are more likely to win their cases All jurors are not fools and arid none of ot us know when we shall be in I need of justice Now Kow if It the Judges are fair fall and honest and the prosecution is I square and the defender will defend squarely then all we need is honest juries J.
