They stressed that 50,000 cancer patients could be cured annually by early detection and treatment. Cancer is as highly curable as many less dreaded diseases if the public will learn to recognize early symptoms and seek immediate medical advice. The Cancer society elected Dr. Ray T. Woolsey, president of the State Medical association, as chairman of a newly formed ex-ecutive committee.. Other mem-bers are: Lynn S. Students of the university will take to the ski slopes on March 16 for their traditional Ski Car- - nival, it was announced this week. The carnival is being re-vived this year after being drop-ped during the war. Student skiers will compete for prizes in racing events at Alta- U OF U ANNOUNCES NEW BOOK POLICY Because of unusually heavy demands, all students will be re-quired to purchase University of Utah catalogues beginning with the 11146-4- 7 issue. President A. Ray Olpin announced this week. In the past, the university has given out the catalogues free of charge until registration; but because of the unprecedented demands, it has become neces-sary that they be purchased. Al-though a large number of this year's issue was printed, the supply has now been exhausted and no further printing is con-templated. It is anticipated that 15,000 copies of the catalogue-wil- l ho printed for the year 1946-4- 7 They will be off the press sometime in June, and on sale in the university bookstore at 25 cents a copy.
