Show Dot Diary Experiences of a Salt Lake Social Worker Tonight after arter work orl I 1 went to a Girl Scout meeting It was not so hilarious a party as the Boy Scout Boy Scout banquet but we had a jolly time anyway The girls pt the troop I 1 visited were how to tend babies They rhey had big dolls lolIs there and a trained nurse was showing them how to hold a baby properly to undress it bathe it dress it Irow to lay lay- it down and pick it up how iov to care for its eyes ees ears nose and throat The expressions on their faces ac s were killing They were so absorbed ab- ab and So desperately intense in their do everything just rIght Later I 1 was told they would go to some institution or into homes and actually put into practice what they had ad learned I found o oUt t that these 1111 Scouts learn how to cook sew make maJe bOOM beds set tables give parties and do all sorts ot of useful things I 1 was surprised surprised sur- sur too to find that almost everyone connected with the organization organization works works' gratuitously gratuitous giving or of time knowledge and experience In fact I learned that taking In the summer camps camps and winter Camp and all activities the cost Is only 6 per ye year l' l for tor each girl I the girls In the office or of the Corn Com Chest suggested that I 1 go goto goto to this meeting because r I complained this morning thai thal so much money had to go toward relieving dire want and ami could not be used lot for the con con- building of good citizens |
