Griner the negro farmer told officers eight men came to his home In May 1926 broke the lock on his front door dool took him to a swamp four fOUl miles away and beat him severely Ise He said his wife and six children were at home when the men wearing flour sacks over their heads burst Into his home turned on a flashlight tied a rope around his neck blindfolded him and took him to the swamp where he was flogged Mack New local merchant and J.
