C Roberts 84 Utah pioneer and Civil war veteran died at his home here South Eighth West Vest street early this morning following a lingering j I illness incidental to old age He was born In RIpley Ill August 20 1841 One of the first volunteers under President Lincoln's administration in the Civil war Mr Roberts served four tour ears years in the Illinois InI In- In I fantry and was with General SherI Sher- Sher SherI I I I man on his march from Atlanta to the sea He is survived In Provo by only one other Civil war veteran veteran veteran vet vet- eran A. A F. F Mossman Shortly after he came to Utah in 1871 Mr Roberts became a member member mem mem- ber of the L. L D. D S.
