Show Attempt to Swim Ashore Is Cause of Some Consternation SAN FRANCISCO. Roy W. Waltz, 30, Middleville, N. Y., refrigeration refrig-eration engineer was so anxious to get ashore that he didn't wait for a boat. He hopped into San Francisco bay, clad only in his underwear, and started swimming. The result was a "man overboard" over-board" alarm which required assistance as-sistance from the coast guard, a police patrol boat and had guards at Alcatraz prison on the verge of taking pot shots at what they thought was an escaped prisoner. Finally pulled out of the water j near Alcatraz after he had refused ; aid from' small boats, Waltz was returned re-turned to the freighter. |
