L Davis 85 85 one time city councilman and widely known in Utah because of his explorations of the Great Salt lake died at his home North Main street Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday Tues Tues- day morning at 11 o'clock after a abrie brief brie Illness After coming from Wales to Utah Mr Davis became an enthusiastic enthusiastic elastic sailor of the lake First he experimented with a small boat and later navigated the waters with ith three Cambria boats The latter were widely known for several years Mr Davis who was vice president of the Cambrian association here at atthe atthe atthe the time of his death was was wa a native of of o South Wales Vales He lie was born In 1841 and came to Utah In 1864 driving a team of twelve twelve oxen oxen across the plains He was a member of ot the city council of Salt Lake from 1886 to tc 1888 He was an active m member of the L. L D. D S. S church and at the time of his death was wa's senior member of ot the high council of the Salt Salt- Lake stake Since boyhood Mr Davis had been heen connected with the mercantile busi busi- ness He was employed ed by the Z C.
