Show MAIL SERVICE RESUMED WHERE ALLIES CONTROL Effective February 16, letters not exceeding one ounc eand non-illustrated non-illustrated postcards are being accepted for mailing to destinations destina-tions in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, except for those destinations in the provinces provinc-es of Pomorze and Kotowice, parts of which are under enemy control. Postmaster Earl T. James announces that postage rates are five cents for letters and three cents for postcards to all destinations destin-ations in the areas mentioned. Air mail, registered, special delivery, de-livery, money order and parcel post services are not available. Beginning February 25, the post office department announces that mailing of letters and packages pack-ages prepaid at the letter rate up to a weight limit of four pounds six ounces, when addressed address-ed for delivery in Belgium is permitted. Such letters and packages may contain merchandise merchan-dise and will be subject to the export regulations of the Foreign Economic Administration, which has extended general license entitled en-titled "G-Post" to include Belgium. The limited mail service to Greece has been extended to in-elude in-elude letters up to one ounce in weight, the postage rates are five cents for each letter and three cents for each card, according accord-ing to Postmaster Earl T. Provision is made by the trea-su) trea-su) department for transmission of personal support remittances to Greece, as soon as banks in the United States are able to make the necessary arrangements with banks in Greece. Information Informa-tion regarding the sending of such remittances may be secured by interested persons from their local banking institutions or the Federal Reserve bank of their district with the exception of instructions in-structions relating to support remittances re-mittances and to the protection and maintenance of property interests in-terests in Greece, communications communica-tions of a financial or business character are restricted to those ascertaining facts and exchanging exchang-ing information. Air mail, registration, money order, special delivery and parcel par-cel post services are not available avail-able at this time, and enclosures of currency, checks, drafts or securities are prohibited. |
