House Passes Bill With Red Anti-Red Rider WASHINGTON May 13 INS The The house Thursday approved approve the the he legislative appropriation bill for tor 1949 which Includes an amendment amendment amendment amend amend- ment forbidding payment of oC salaries salaries salaries sal sal- aries to any person belonging to certain labor unions The measure which now goes to the senate contains for the new fiscal year b binning beginning July 1 including funds to pay the salaries of ot members of congress There was no debate on the anti red rider which is similar to those hose included in other appropriation tion lon bills There is some question however over whether it affects members of congress The rider bars the payment of salaries of any person who be be- longs to a union whose officers have not signed non Communist affidavits under the Taft Hartley labor abor act Hundreds of members of the In International International In- In Typographical union a union face the loss oss of ot their jobs at the government government govern govern- ment printing office unless their officers change their position and sign the affidavits The I IT T U has been jeen fighting the act Rep Dingell D.
