LUnder Under the sponsorship of th Salt Lake City public schools chops preschool age children health clinic opened Monday at 10 a. a min m m. in the Riverside school South and West The clinics are held throughout the school year at four elementary schools where children between the ages of or 2 and 4 are given complete physical examinations by Dr Samuel G. G Paul health director director di director di- di rector and medical inspector for forthe forthe forthe the board of education The purpose of the program m said Dr Paul is to correct and prevent any physical defect before before before be be- fore the child starts school The clinics have been effective in re reducing reducing re re- absence through illness and have instilled at an early age proper health habits which lead to good social and moral habits Each school is visited from six sixto sixto sixto to eight times during the school year and four examinations are conducted during the Bummer cummer months The children are arc checked for nutritional deficiencies posture pos poe ture and thyroid trouble A card bearing all medical information is filed in the school office This card follows the childs child's scholastic record until graduation from high school When the child enters the first grade nurses from the board of health follow up the cases and check to see that the child is re receiving receiving re- re proper medical attention Miss Dora Maiben health di director dl dl- rector preschool children instructs in instructs instructs in- in the mothers and carefully checks each health card She reports reports reports re re- re- re ports that the parents cooperate with th the program and that each year the number of examinations examina increases |
