S veterans' veterans administration told a Sons of Utah Pioneers Luncheon club meeting that already more Utah veterans of World War Var II n arc are on pension lists than Utah veterans of World War I. I The figures given by Mr Ables were 1261 veterans of the last war who have received pensions over overa a 8 year 25 period with already 1449 Utah veterans of this war receiving pensions pensions' as a result of disabilities suffered The handwriting on the wall has two meanings First it itIs itis Is b a warning of the far greater price in il casualties and disability we will win pay in this war as compared to the last Second it serves notice upon the American taxpayer that the cost of this war cannot be totaled up Upi after the conclusion of hostilities and the demobilization of ot our armed forces We will be paying for the war in pensions to disabled men for many years years just just as we will win be paying off the debt created by this war for many years And what does all that add up to Just Just this this we we cannot afford either In personal sacrifice of life and limb or in financial outlay another such war Weve We've got to see sec to it that this is the last last one at least for a a. good long time Thousands of our boys overseas are aze waiting for or those letters let let- era the home folks are going to write when they find the time 1 |
