Show Over the Top on Bond Drive Again UTAH can be exceedingly ly proud of its achievement in going over the top on the fourth war loan drive p prior to the end of this important war financing campaign in the nation While the nation as aa a whole was still more than half a billion dollars short of the mark Utah joined the ranks of 12 other states which had reached and ex exceeded their quotas It was no mean achievement because everyone had feared that there would be serious difficulty in putting this drive over and and in fact there was difficulty Bond purchases were slow starting and at one time there was very serious concern lest the quota would not be reached at all even when the final reports re reports reports re- re ports were all in Ins Instead ead we exceeded the quota by the last lasty day y and unquestionably will push the final total well over the mark We did not reach our quota on individual purchases but drive leaders have ave ex expressed r themselves as not disappointed in inthe inthe inthe the total of such purchases nevertheless because the time of this drive in midwinter between Christmas and i income come ta tax time is n not t the most favorable for individual income At la last reports w we had more than of individual bond purchases purchases pur pur- chases against the goal We are sure every Utahn joins with The Telegram in a feeling of real satisfaction over the success of the bond drive In every drive so f far r Utah has gone over the top before the end of the campaign We would have hated to spoil that r record cord g generally too we know kow will join with The Telegram In expressing sincere appreciation to the drive leaders Charles L.
