| Show i r Opportunity to Prove Patriotism T LEADERS of the Japanese community in Salt Lake City who are certainly interested in maintaining the best possible public feeling toward members of that group might well give some some attention to impressing their fellow Japanese-Americans Japanese with the need for the most careful compliance with wartime rationing regulations Recently two instances of serious noncompliance with these regulations ca came e to light in the news columns In one case a Japanese was denied gasoline rations for the duration by 0 P A authorities on the ground that he had purchased 45 gallons of gasoline for his passenger automobile using coupons issued for fora a truck In another two Japanese women were turned over to p 0 OP P A authorities by police who said they had purchased 90 i pounds of stolen butter from juveniles without of course giving ration stamps stamp in exchange for it Admittedly ly there are many cases in which American citizens citizens citizens citi citi- I zens zens are violating rationing regulations But those Americans who do so pre ire not considered patriotic loyal Americans Rationing Rationing Rationing Ration Ration- ing off offers rs Japanese-Americans Japanese a splendid opportunity to demonstrate demonstrate demonstrate demon demon- strate their loyalty and patriotism patriotism even even to the point of showing I up some other Americans Americans by by going all the way in accepting wartime limitations and cooperating to the fullest extent in every very phase of the nations nation's effort to insure victory f. f |
