Show Work of the C C C in Utah civilian conservation corps recently reI released released re- re THE I leased a lengthy statistical report on the accomplishments accomplishments accomplishments ac ac- ac- ac of ot the C C C in Utah during the past year The report revealed that approximately enrollees worked on various projects in the thes s state ate during the year in 33 camps The boys did all sorts 2 of worthwhile work in the conservation conservation conservation conser conser- of this states state's national resources chiefly in rehabilitating and protecting grazing lands forests and soil Those working on grazing lands carried on rodent and predatory animal control cleaned out poisonous plants built stock driveways planted acres of ot range land built fences corrals and cattle guards developed springs and water holes and built reservoirs truck trails roads and bridges Those working on soil erosion control built stream and bank protection and check heck dams planted grass and trees built diversion ditches and water spreaders They did much valuable flood control work Those working in the forest areas fought forest fires eliminated fire hazards eradicated insect pests a and d plant plan diseases es planted tree seedlings and improved tree stands Other types of ot activity carried on during the year Included construction of ot reclamation dams dikes jetties ditches and pipe lines development development development de de- de- de of recreational campgrounds trails fireplaces tables and They even planted fish safeguarded other wild life and built telephone lines There is hardly a section of ot Utah which did not benefit from the work of the C C C last year We in Utah because so much of this activity activity activity ac ac- ac- ac is carried on right under our our- our noses noses realize real iz ize well the value of the C C C program But it is good to have the vast volume of important conservation work that they do brought to our attention by such an annual report reportS Utah appreciates and welcomes the fine work being done by the C C C. C We hope this conservation and youth development program will be carried on indefinitely for the benefit of Utah and for the benefit of the youth of ot America |
