B 82 state reorganization bill will cut cutout cutout cutout out the three-man three commission in inthe inthe inthe the agricultural department and substitute a commissioner I Farm and livestock forces seem to o favor a commissioner and state board of agriculture a up set-up simIlar similar sim sim- ilar lIar to that existing now in the agrIculture agriculture agriculture ag ag- ag- ag department Under the new plan however the board of agriculture would be given more power than the present board Four or five youthful legislators are making a good record for themselves themselves themselves them them- selves in their first year In the house of representatives Observers believe these young legislators give promise of providIng providIng provid- provid Ing ng outstanding leadership in fu future future future fu- fu ture sessions proving themselves able lawmakers Some of these are John C. C Leary D. D Salt Lake law student J. J Irving Nichols D. D Salt Lake member of the electrical workers' workers union Grant Midgley D. D Salt Lake connected with a drug firm and Scott Barton Smith D. D Piute Piute Piute Pi- Pi ute farmer Representative Smith was as m maried mar mar- r- r ned shortly before the session and had just returned from an L D S mission The senate blows hot and then cold as regards junket trips during during dur- dur ing ng this session When the session started the upper house members voted a policy that provided for ap ap- ap- ap of a committee to make educational tours For the first junket a trip to the Utah State Agricultural college at Logan a committee was appointed but a later motion rescinded this action and it was voted that the entire senate would go The trip to Snow junior college at Ephraim brought a vote for the entire body as s did the trip to St. St George But next Wednesday when an inspection of the Weber junior college is planned senators voted that a committee will make the junket |
