Show J i THE TUE STORM I The impression that the storm was held off until I Pat Moran i cOl could d complete his grading and paving on First South street was strengthened yesterday when Dr Hyatt overdid the thing by this snowstorm It i i is the tho jolli jolliest st one ono that has struck Salt Lake in several several sev sev- eral years ears It was in great part unexpected because because because be be- cause heretofore when we have had bad a big storm we have had notice for th three ee days das in a a. sour and strong wind blowing up from tho gulf There was no premonition premonition premonition pre pre- monition of the storm in California or in Oregon or Washington this simply was dumped damped dow down upon us It is altogether a very splendid one and the phenomenon phenomenon phenomenon phe phe- of a snowstorm here never ceases to be wonderful wonderful won- won because evidently this great snowstorm a week weck ago was simply sc sed seft water ater out in the Pacific and it was pumped up and loaded on clouds the winds were call called d up and wafted the clouds shoreward as RS the clouds cloud passed over the Cascades and continued on the their Z way here the cold on the mountain tops seized s zed them and compressed their moisture into snow until they struck our heights and then as the hand squeezes a wet sponge cold pressure was brought upon pon those wet clouds and down fell the snow It is isone isone one of those magnificent inventions of old nature through which to feed the springs in our hills and though the phenomenon is common it never loses its ith s interest and the majesty of the performance is never neverin in the least decreased |
