Show Basketball Team Wins Encounter The Highland Boy Crusaders organized a basketball team and played Bingham Boy Scouts Monday night at the R. C. Gern-mell Gern-mell club. The Crusaders won the rough game, 40-42. Playing were Martin Pazell, Eddie Osoro, Daniel Shea, Vincent Miola and Joe Uzelac. Eugedo Fontana of the U. S. navy spent Tuesday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Tony Azzelio. He is the eldest son of Mrs. Mary Fontana of Park City and has been stationed in Wyoming. Private Mike Gerbich of the U. S. army, son of Mrs. Steffie Gerbich, writes that he has become be-come acclimated in the south. He is stationed at New Orleans in the supply corps. Private John Callen, son of Mrs. Lucille Callen, latest Highland High-land Boy draftee, received a 12-hour 12-hour furlough Saturday night, whit-h he spent visiting home-For home-For the past two weeks John has been at Fort Douglas awaiting further orders. The Queen Esthers of the Highland Boy Community House held their weekly meeting Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at seven o'clock. Regular business was discussed and light refreshments were served by Miss Ann Muhar and Miss Marie Azzelio. The Home Guard Girls enjoyed enjoy-ed a delightful Slumber party last Friday evening at the Highland High-land Boy Community House. Dinner was followed with roller skating and games. The 10 girls retired to arise in the morning and cook a delicious breakfast. Miss Alice Virginia Brown is supervisor for the group. Mrs. James Abrcu entertained at a bridal shower Saturday evening ev-ening for her daughter, Miss Madelene Mayo, who is to be-icome be-icome the bride of Keith Nelson of Salt Lake City on April 18. Mr. Nelson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Nelson of 3241 South Second East, Salt Lake City. - Miss Marjorie Brimhall of Wendover spent Tuesday visiting visit-ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brimhall. o ilHGHLAND BOY' Marie Azzelio Miss Erma Sponga's Marriage Told News has been received of the wedding of Miss Erma Kay Sponga and First Class Seaman Nick A. Yengich of the U. S-coast S-coast ' guard. The ceremony was solemnized March 8 in San Francisco by Justice of the Peace R. A. Bowlie. The bride wore a beige suit with red accessories and a corsage cor-sage of roses and carnations. Mrs. C. J. Roth of Grass Valley, Calif., matron of honor, wore a black suit and green accessories. Her corsage was of gardenias. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Rose Yengich and is a graduate grad-uate of Bingham high school, class of 1940. He enlisted in the U. S. coast guard in November and is stationed in San Francisco. His bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sponga and is employed em-ployed at Camp Beale, Calif. The newlyweds were prominent promin-ent in community recreational activities in Highland Boy and have many friends in Bingham district who will be interested in learning of their marriage. . Mary Pazell and Mary Gerbich spent Saturday shopping in Salt i Lake City. |
