Pocatello o Highway District Prepa Prepares es for o now POCATELLO Idaho Snow Idaho Snow fighting equipment is being made ready for instant use at the Pocatello shops of highway district No 1 I. L L Flint is district engineer Meanwhile crews are working throughout the entire district erectIng erectIng erectIng erect- erect Ing some som 90 miles of snow fence to keen keep drifting snow from piling on highways The fence is bein being placed in short sections throughout the entire district District No 1 has some of at the themo mo most t difficult snow conditions of any similar area in the entire United States The snow condition is made more difficult by the high winds which on some days during the Winter hinter blow blo the snow Into the roadways almost as fast as powerful plows can throw it to the side In addition to the snow fences the department has 26 snow plows located at intervals along the main highways Two are huge rotary plows plows' equipped with two engines one of which moves the plow and the other the truck carrying the know snow now thrower Although the department has in various years started snow removal work as early as October the trouble trouble trouble trou trou- ble does not become serious until the latter Satter part of December or early in January In normal years
