L gram There would be no expense no red tape Just a friendly friendy friend- friend P sly ly y cooperative gathering of the 1 fe leaders ders from each brand of I t trying to protect their own interests by practicing the theT ther T Gold Golden n Rule r Most of the thc present resent conflicts just h happen They develop or because each ch sports group is js interested only in its its' its own L worries ins instead of f re realizing g they ha ave e m much ch in in co common mon The he Am Amateur te Federation for example is holding its 4 state tournament tournament- this week The dates for this meet f b- b v ha have e been set ever since snow snow was on the thc ground last spring Yet the city i y recreation tion department inaugurates the V Y ff ft state open softball tournament and schedules it over some somei 1 i i of the same days In reality the recreation department has hasset s set t up competition n which I am am sure sure its leaders have bave not ini in- in i ten tended ed M r For the most pait part these duplication of dates could be elimInated elim- elim at d. d if dates were were apportioned on n a a general sports sports' calendar in fair minded gathering of the leaders from all branches of sports Colleges s high schools and independent groups all could profit by bythe th the plan In V oJ Of course course i it would be E u unreasonable to as ask an organization sponsoring g. g weekly a activities t to step aside for another sports ts branCh but out there could be a a profitable arrangement of give and land take so far as the dates are concerned on the special events which come but Hut once or twice a year to o each line of sport Some may argue that if a man goes to the baseball tournament tournament ment instead of the golf course that he isn't interested enough jn in golf togo an anyway way That is hardly is-hardly r ly true Base Baseball alJ may be hist his t lov love esp love especially especially if a tournament is in progress progress but but he might be an ardent fan at the golf course if the diamond attraction attraction attraction tion was held on another date He could see them both |
